Second US – North Korea summit will get significant achievements: Indonesian Amb.
Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam expressed his trust in the success of the second US – North Korea in Hanoi.
On the sidelines of the meeting between the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam with reporters on February 26, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi expressed his belief that the second US – North Korea summit will get significant achievements to create a new chapter for the relations between the US and North Korea.
On this occasion, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Ibnu Hadi congratulated Hanoi for being chosen to host the summit.
“In my opinion, there are many kinds of reasons why Hanoi has been chosen to host the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un,” Ibnu Hadi told Hanoitimes on the sidelines of the meeting.
According to the Indonesian ambassador, the first reason is that Vietnam has good relations with both countries. Secondly, Vietnam has, to some extent, already gained trust from US President Donald Trump as well as North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un. Thirdly, Vietnam can provide a good model for North Korea, because Vietnam is a socialist country, similar to North Korea, but you can enjoy and experience high economic growth.
As a person who has lived in Hanoi for a while, Ibnu Hadi said he is very proud and happy to be here at the time of the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un.
Accordingly, the White House has confirmed that the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un is planned to take place in the Sofitel Legend Metropole hotel in Hanoi, a luxury one with a rich history in the heart of Vietnam’s capital city.
Trump and Kim’s private meeting will take place at 6:30 local time, ten minutes after the two leaders officially greet each other, Channel News Asia has reported.
The meeting will last twenty minutes and will be followed by a “social dinner” where Trump will be accompanied by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, while Kim is also expected to be joined by two top officials.
