Poland's Warsaw pledges to support Hanoi in monument restoration

As Hanoi has more than 2,500 ancient relics, Poland and Warsaw would actively support Hanoi to preserve the city`s monuments.
Relics preservation and green public transport vehicles development are the fields Warsaw and Hanoi could work together, said the visiting chairman of the Poland - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group.

On November 27, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Nguyen Van Suu met with the Grzegorz Napieralski, who chairs the Poland - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group and is on a working visit in Vietnam.

Briefing the guest on the socio-economic situation of the capital in recent times, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Van Suu said that Hanoi is actively promoting smart city development towards making the capital one of the most livable cities in the world.
One of the goals the Hanoi’s leaders are aiming at is to step by step phasing out over 6 million motorbikes in the future, by encouraging people to using public transport, Nguyen Van Suu added. 
On  the matter of the urban environment, Nguyen Van Suu said that the city has planted one million trees in urban areas in the period 2017 - 2018. Concerning tourism, Hanoi is expected to welcome 5 million international visitors in 2018, Nguyen Van Suu added.
On the basis of friendly relations between Vietnam and Poland, the Hanoi deputy mayor wished that the two sides would continue to strengthen exchanges and support each other. As Hanoi has more than 2,500 ancient relics, Nguyen Van Suu hinted that with long experience in the field of ancient architecture restoration, Poland and Warsaw would actively support Hanoi to preserve its monuments.
The Polish guest thanked Nguyen Van Suu for the warm welcome and said he was impressed by the huge development of Hanoi Capital.
Talking about areas where Hanoi and Warsaw could cooperate in the future, Grzegorz Napieralski emphasized that transportation and waste treatment are the major issues that a city has to deal with in its smart city development course.
He added relics restoration has been the field of effective cooperation between that Vietnam and Poland. On future cooperation, Grzegorz Napieralski asserted that Poland is willing to assist Vietnam in developing green public transport vehicles.
