PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 16 is chairing a teleconference on logistics to seek measures to reduce expenditures and effectively connect transport infrastructures.
Vietnam to develop logistics

The event attracts the participation of representatives from ministries, agencies and localities nationwide as well as those from businesses and corporations operating in logistics and transport services.
Delegates at the conference will listen to reports of ministries, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam Logistics Business Association and the World Bank on the status of logistics service in Vietnam.
The Ministry of Transport will focus on measures to lessen logistics expenditures in Vietnam.
The event creates an opportunity for business operating in logistics and transport to directly report difficulties and obstacles to the PM and propose measures to operate logistics more effectively in the upcoming time.
Last year, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc issued a decision approving an action plan on competitiveness improvement and logistics service development.
Under the plan, the Government hopes to lower the logistics costs to 16%-20% of the GDP and the logistics performance index (LPI) is expected to rank at least 50th compared to the current 64th out of 160 countries.
Currently, Vietnam’s logistics expenditures accounts for 20-21% of GDP, ranking fourth among nations in ASEAN. Logistics expenditures related to transport make up 59-60%.
This fact shows the important role of logistics in each country's economy. Reducing costs, improving the efficiency of logistics will have a positive impact on the economy of all countries.
