Phu Yen Culture-Tourism Week kicks off
The Culture-Tourism Week officially opened in Phu Yen on April 25, which is designed to introduce the unique local culture and promote tourism potential of the province, thus attracting more investments in the locality.
This is also one of the events marking the death anniversary of Hung Kings (the 10th of the third lunar month, which falls on April 25 this year) and the 43rd anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30).
The programme, to last until May 1, will take place in Tuy Hoa city, Song Cau town and Tuy An district with ten major activities, including a tour to Dai Lanh Cape, the easternmost point of the country which is the first place in Vietnam to see the sun rise, and a Bai Choi singing festival.
On this occasion, ceremonies will be held to receive the title of Special National Relic Site granted to Hon Yen (Yen Islet), and announce Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s decision on the master plan for Xuan Dai Bay national tourism site.
Phu Yen, a south central province with more than 200 km of coastal line, is seen as one of the most famous tourist sites thanks to its beautiful landscapes and pristine beaches.
Previously, the province was barely on Vietnam’s tourism map until the “Toi thay hoa vang tren co xanh” (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) movie. Viewers were stunned by Phu Yen’s beautiful natural landscapes shown in the film. Numerous people have flocked to Phu Yen to experience its indigenous culture, scenic landscapes and local food.
In 2017, Phu Yen welcomed 1.4 million visitors and earned about VND1.2 trillion (US$52 million). The province aims to attract more than 2 million visitors by 2020 to generate an estimated tourism revenue of VND3.1 trillion (US$136 million), according to Phu Yen Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
