Opening the third Thai Nguyen Tea Festival 2015

The third Thai Nguyen Tea Festival 2015, themed "Quintessence of Vietnamese tea", officially kicked off in the evening of November 26 at the Nui Coc Lake tourism site in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.
Attending the opening ceremony were Standing Secretariat of the Central Communist Party of Vietnam Le Hong Anh and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Thai Nguyen People's Committee Duong Ngoc Long said, the festival is a special cultural and economic activity to highlight the image of Thai Nguyen’s land and people as well as its tea culture, promoting significantly to develop the province' investment and socio-economy.
Apart from over 100 local enterprises, cooperatives and trade villages specialising in tea, the festival attracts 67 delegations from tea-producing countries including Japan, Russia, India and the Republic of Korea.
National-scale festival is associated with the cultural and historical events of the province along with various cultural, tourism and art activities.

Visitors to the festival have a chance to learn about tea-drinking art and enjoy folk dances and music of Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, China and India.
Professional and amateur artists took part in an art programmes in the festival, which imbued traditional culture and highlighted the image of Thai Nguyen’s land and people as well as its tea culture.
According to the organising board, various activities will be held at the Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that Vietnam has 240,000 ha of tea trees and has formed many tea production areas such as Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Yen Bai, Son La.
 
Vietnam at present ranks the 5th in the world in tea export, he said, and adding that in the recent years, the tea sector has significantly contributed to create jobs, reduce poverty, improve the ecological environment and contribute to the national economy.
 

The Deputy Prime Minister believed the tea industry will continue to grow and have more famous tea brands, Vietnamese tea products will increase the quality, quantity and be more famous.
The event on November 26 attracted about 6,000 visitors from provinces across the country and numerous foreign tourists.
The festival runs through November 28.
