North Korea leader: “Thank you, Vietnam!”
Kim reportedly said that he has been through a long way of more than 3,000 kilometers to Vietnam and thanked the country for such hospitality and warm reception.
North Korea leader Kim Jong Un said he is touched at the warm welcome from the Vietnamese people, VnExpress reported.
At 8.15 a.m (local time) on February 26, Kim Jong Un got off the iconic olive-green train after a long journey from Pyongyang to Dong Dang railway station in the northern province of Lang Son.
He was welcomed by Vietnamese delegation led by Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Propaganda and Education.
Kim reportedly said that he has been through a long way of more than 3,000 kilometers to Vietnam and thanked the country for such hospitality and warm reception.
Vietnam’s Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung revealed that after saying welcome to Vietnam, Kim replied that he is delighted and thankful to Vietnam.
After leaving Dong Dang station, at 11.00 a.m, the North Korean delegation has arrived at Melia Hotel in Hanoi.
The North Korea – US second summit is expected to take place on February 27 – 28 in Hanoi to discuss specific steps towards the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, which has been agreed in principle by leaders of the two countries in the first summit in Singapore.
Vietnamese government considered hosting the event a top priority in 2019, indicating the country’s foreign policy of being a trusted partner and friend for the world community.
In addition to the summit with US President Donald Trump, Kim is scheduled to make an official visit to Vietnam.
In a separate note, Trump has boarded the Air Force One and is due to arrive on Tuesday evening (local time).
As of present, nearly 3,000 international reporters from 200 media outlets in 40 countries and territories have come to Vietnam, not to mention more than 550 local reporters working around the clock to deliver news about the event.
