The draft of the amended Capital Law will be one of the issues to be discussed at the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the national legislative body will discuss 40 topics. Twenty-four of them are political and 16 are socio-economic, budgetary and administrative.

Legislators will have 2.5 days to interpellate ministers and government officials on how they've performed and on the future agenda.

At this session, lawmakers will discuss the approval of the United Kingdom's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) agreement, the public investment for 2021-2025, and review and adopt the draft of the amended Law on Social Insurance.

National lawmakers are also expected to discuss and approve the Planning for the Capital City of Hanoi for 2021-2030, Vision to 2050 and the overall adjustment project of the General Planning for the Capital City of Hanoi.

In addition, the National Assembly will review the draft of the amended Capital Law. Legislators are expected to approve the amended law along with its sub-regulatory documents to ensure the proper realization of socio-economic and infrastructure development projects in Hanoi.

The amended Capital Law and the General Planning for the Capital City aim to develop Hanoi into a cultured, modern and civilized metropolis by 2030, based on scientific and technological advances, and the growth engine for the Red River Delta region, the North and the whole country.

The two documents also envision Hanoi becoming an international financial and educational hub that grows based on a green and circular economy, a digital economy, and a shared economy.

According to the two documents, Hanoi will transform into a city with high-quality living conditions and comprehensive socio-economic growth by 2050. The capital is also expected to become a global, green, smart, peaceful and prosperous metropolis, keeping pace with the growth of other cities in the region and the world.

By 2050, the city's population is expected to reach 13.5 million. Hanoi residents are expected to have an income of US$45,000-46,000 and the city would be 80-85% urbanized.

During 2021-2050, Hanoi will develop based on five spaces, five economic corridors, five growth axes, five socio-economic regions and five satellite cities.
