Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan re-elected as 14th NA Chairwoman
On July 22, Chairwoman of the 13th National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan was re-elected as the head of the 14th legislature during the first session, with the majority of votes.

In a secret ballot held on July 21, 483 out of 494 deputies, or 97.77 percent, voted for Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The results were announced on July 22. In the solemn swearing-in ceremony, the NA Chairwoman pledged absolute loyalty to the fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. She committed to doing her best to fulfil the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
As the head of the State’s most powerful organ, she promised to work with the NA Standing Committee and deputies of the 14th NA to effectively implement the NA’s constitutional and legislative functions as well as its function of making decisions on the country’s important issues and supreme supervisions over all activities of the State in compliance with regulations of the Constitution and laws.
“I will work with National Assembly deputies to continue making changes to increase the quality of the National Assembly’s operations to make it a united and creative National Assembly that acts for the interests of the people, for the honour and pride of the nation, and for the sustainable development of the country,” she said.
Taking the heavy responsibility for fellow-citizens and voters, as the head of the National Assembly, the highest organ of state power, NA Chairwoman Ngan promised to work with the NA Standing Committee and NA deputies to uphold the 70-year glorious tradition of the NA; effectively conduct constitutional and legislative functions; make important decisions on national important issues; and perform the highest supervisory function of the State in accordance with the Constitution and laws.
The new NA Chairwoman also vowed to work with NA deputies to renovate operation so that the legislative body would become a united, creative and active organ for the sake of people and national sustainable development.
