The “Millions of Meals” campaign, named “The heart of Hanoi's young entrepreneurs” to provide nutritious meals to vulnerable communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, has been expanded across the capital city of Hanoi.
The project has been run by the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union. Young people across Hanoi have responded enthusiastically to the campaign, helping ease life burdens of many less fortunate people and no one left behind.
Many entrepreneurs have volunteered to deliver food and other essentials for free to people in need and those working on the front line during the fight against Covid-19.
“We’re very thankful for the donors’ support. Poor patients like us would have suffered a lot without the community’s help, especially in this Covid-19 pandemic," Nguyen Thi Tam from Hanoi’s Ba Vi District, one of the beneficiaries, told The Hanoi Times.

The Phase 3 of the campaign has been implemented from August 23 to September 6, with the support of the Hanoi Young Business Association (HANOIBA) under the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union, the Municipal Union of Farmers and many benefactors.
Every day, thousands of free meals, which are hygienic and safe, are sent to needy patients and unemployed workers, poor students, disadvantaged households and people with disabilities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The HANOIBA and its member businesses committed themselves to providing at least 50,000 meals during the third phase of the campaign.
“Along with many social security activities during the pandemic, HANOIBA’s free meals to underprivileged people aim to support the city's policy of taking care of the poor,” said President of HANOIBA Tran Dang Nam.
Volunteers, cooks and meal shippers are all immunized with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccines.
Previously, the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union successfully organized two phases of the "Millions of meals" campaign. The first phase run from July 24 to August 6 with the motto "Hanoi of gratitude - A meal to overcome the pandemic". The second phase lasted from August 7 to August 22 with the title "Hanoi of gratitude - The heart of journalists". In the two phases, nearly 70,000 meals were provided to people in need during the city's period of social distancing.
"Millions of meals - Hanoi of gratitude", being implemented since April 2020, is a vital, humane and effective activity for the community during the city’s period of social distancing. HANOIBA's support will mark the core role of the municipal Youth Union and HANOIBA in attracting forces and social resources to successfully implement common tasks and goals, following the association's guideline: "Engaging entrepreneurs - Elevating values," said Nguyen Duc Tien, chairman of the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union.
