Amnat Jongyo Tyino said that in addition to the cooperation of the two local journalists associations, the linkage between the Thai News (Chiang Mai) and the Kinh Te & Do Thi (Hanoi) in the past few years has been an effective means for the two localities’ mutual understanding.

Thereby, the two sides will create conditions for their enterprises to seek investment opportunities in numerous fields with a view to promoting economic cooperation.

For his part, Chairman of the Hanoi Journalist Association To Quang Phan said that the cooperation between the two countries in general and the two localities in particular still has much potential untapped, especially the tourism potential in Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai is the cultural center of northern Thailand and the second tourism hub of the country after the capital city of Bangkok.

In 2018, Chiang Mai welcomed more than 10 million tourists. Currently, there are direct flights between this province and Hanoi, facilitating tourism development between the two sides.

In the framework of the visit, in addition to working sessions with the Reporter Association of Chiang Mai, Thai News, Chiang Mai Radio and Television, the Hanoi Journalist Association delegation also paid visits to the Office of Thai Tourism Department in Chiang Mai and the provincial Department of Commerce, among others.

During the meetings, the two sides exchanged professional knowledge and experience and on how the media supports socio-economic and cultural information exchange between Vietnam and Thailand as well as between Hanoi and Chiang Mai, Lamphun.

The two sides pointed out the difficulties for traditional press in the current period in face of the dominance of social media.

Besides, both sides also offered solutions to promote cooperation between their press agencies.
