The information was revealed in prime minister’s Decision No.510/QD-TTg, aiming to raise awareness and strengthen the linkage between statistics providers and users to ensure statistical data is produced in the fastest and most accurate way possible.

For the past 75 years, the local statistics sector has been instrumental for providing socio-economic data to support government’s leaders in the process of state management, while meeting growing demand from organizations and individuals in Vietnam and abroad for statistics data.

“The selection of May 6 as Vietnam’s Statistics Day also reflects the country’s active integration  with the world following similar move of the United Nations since 2010 in choosing October 20 as the World Statistics Day,” stated the General Statistics Office (GSO), adding this proves the acknowledgment of the importance of data authenticity and credibility worldwide.

At present, the GSO is currently carrying out the national 2021 economic census that is set to complete by July 30, 2021, and the preliminary result to be published in late December.

Taking place every five years, the process is one of three important Censuses conducted by the statistics sector will provide comprehensive data on the industry, construction and service sectors; help reflect the scale of GDP, the structure of each economic sector in GDP, as an important premise for the calculation of the national GDP data and the GRDP of each locality.

The results of this survey will also be an important basis for successful implementation of the major tasks of the ministries, branches and the government on economic restructuring, growth model renewal, and efficiency improvement, productivity and competitiveness of the economy.
