One fourth of Vietnam’s total Covid-19 infections has been confirmed over the past 20 days.

The number of people who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in Vietnam hits 4,168 as of May 16, including 2,668 patient.

The country’s Covid-19 deaths are 36, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

One-fourth of the total infections were reported since the resurgence of SARS-CoV-2 in the country on April 29. Local experts attributed the rising cases in the fresh coronavirus outbreak to some variants, including the Indian variant, the UK variant, B.1.222, and B.1.619 firstly detected in Africa and the UK after genomic sequencing conducted by domestic scientists.

Bac Giang contributed the largest part with 98 cases on the day, followed by Bac Ninh 47 and Danang 12.

Due to the infection in industrial parks, Bac Giang becomes the hotspot with 314 cases since the resurgence of the virus on April 29. To support Bac Giang, the Ministry of Health, Hanoi, and Hai Duong have sent task force and health professionals to the locality for the fight against Covid-19.
