Latin American film week to premiere in Hanoi

The second Latin American film week takes place at Cinematheque located at 22 Hai Ba Trung street in Hanoi from October 6-11.

The event, co-organized by the Embassies of Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Haiti and Venezuela, aims to introduce Latin American culture to the Vietnamese people.

Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondón Uzcategui said the event is expected to bring Latin American cinematography and culture to Vietnamese audiences through topics on society, politics and history.
 


 


He also expressed hope that Vietnam and Venezuela will have a chance to cooperate to make a film on the Vietnamese hero Nguyen Van Troi, who is a familiar face to the Venezuelan people.

Haitian Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Lesly Benoit noted the two countries’ struggle against French colonialists under the guideline of President Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) and General Toussaint Louverture (Haiti) have many similarities.

He added that Haiti culture week in Vietnam is scheduled for January 2015, featuring many activities such as art performances, photograph exhibitions and a food festival.
