Japan Cherry Blossom Festival opens in Hanoi
Hanoians have a chance to enjoy about 20,000 cherry blossom branches and 100 cherry trees of Japan, along with hundreds of local flowers.

The 2019 Japan Cherry Blossom Festival – Hanoi officially opened in the the King Ly Thai To Square, featuring many kinds of cultural and artistic performances of Vietnam and Japan.
The festival was organized by by the Hanoi People’s Committee, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee in coordination with the Japanese embassy in Vietnam and Japan's Wanokai International Culture Association.
Held for the fourth consecutive year, the 2019 Japan Cherry Blossom Festival is expected to help increase mutual understanding between people of Vietnam and Japan, and promote the images of the country, culture and people of Japan in Vietnam, and bring Vietnamese and Japanese people closer together, said Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’ Committee, Ngo Van Quy.
At the opening ceremony, Special Advisor to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Isao Ijima hopes that more Vietnamese will go to Japan for study, work and travel in the future.
During the 2019 Japan Cherry Blossom Festival – Hanoi, which take places from March 29 to 31, Hanoians have a chance to enjoy about 20,000 cherry blossom branches and 100 cherry trees of Japan, along with hundreds of local flowers.
In addition, during three-day of festival, visitors will enjoy many kinds of cultural and artistic performances of Vietnam and Japan, including Yosakoi - a unique style of flashmob dance, Japanese cuisine, Shogi - Japanese chess, and Kendama - literally “sword and ball”, a traditional cup-and-ball toy, Vietnamese arts also form part of the festival, including ca tru and hat xam.
Besides cultural and artistic performances, in this year’s event, a goodwill ambassador is selected for the first time. Accordingly, the chosen girl must have a passion for enhancing the Vietnam – Japan friendship as well as knowledge of and interest in Japan and N4-level Japanese speaking ability.
