Int'l sailing tournament - the Vung Tau Marina Cup attracts 48 racers

The winner of the race will receive prize money worth VND100 million (US$4,300).
International sailing tournament - the Vung Tau Marina Cup - kicked off at the Dinh River Bay in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on February 17, with the participation of  48 local and foreign racers from 24 teams.

The event was organized by Ba Ria – Vung Tau province Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with Vung Tau Marina Co., Ltd. A kayaking and photo contest featuring the city has also been held during the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Vung Tau Marina Co., Ltd Le Van Hoc, who is also head of the organizing board of the event, said the event serves as a playground for local and international professional and amateur sailing athletes, contributing to drawing more tourists to Vung Tau.
This is the fourth consecutive year the tournament has been held in the locality, he added.
It is a new sport in Vietnam and the tournament is a competition for local and international sailing lovers. The winner of the race will be awarded VND100 million (US$4,300).
Vung Tau city in Ba Ria Vung Tau province is renowned for its beautiful coastline. According to Vung Tau city’s development plan until 2035, the city will become an environmentally-friendly city and center for national tourism, finance and trade, with a developed maritime economy. Under the plan, the province targets 8.6 million visitors by 2025, an annual average growth rate of 11 to 13%, at least 16,000 high-standard hotel rooms, and 38,000 new jobs.
