Int'l agricultural festival to be held in Vietnam
An international agricultural festival themed Mekong Delta will take place in Vietnam`s southern Can Tho city from March 9-13 in Can Tho city.
The International Agricultural Festival of the Mekong Delta will focus on the application of science and technology in agricultural production.
Some 500 Vietnamese and foreign companies are expected to partake in the festival whose key activities include displays of agricultural products, meetings of scientists and entrepreneurs, and a conference on scientific and technological application in agricultural development.
The event, to be organised under the co-operation of relevant ministries and 13 provinces and cities in the region, will feature specific ways to effectively apply science and technology in agricultural production. Four countries and territories have so far registered to attend the festival including Thailand, China, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan (China).
The highlights of the festival will include a seminar on the application of science and technology in enhancing productivity and the quality of agricultural production.
Vietnam earned 2.1 billion U.S. dollars and 892 million U.S. dollars from exporting rice, and cassava and cassava-based products, respectively, in the first 11 months of this year, down 20.1 percent, and 25.2 percent against the same period last year, said its Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Mekong Delta is the granary of the country and is contributing over 40% to the national agricultural production value.
