A music festival that began in Russia in 1993 will be held in Ha Noi and northern coastal city of Quang Ninh between October 8 and 12.
About 200 composers and musicians from 30 countries will gather for the event, known as the Asia-Europe New Music Festival. It will be the first to be held in Asia after being held in Europe for 11 years.
The festival will feature a wide range of musical performances such as symphony, chamber, folk, ballet, opera, choir and modern music.
The local organisers, the Viet Nam Musicians Association, will start the festival with a symphony performance at the HaNoi Opera House on October 8.
The programme will include chamber music by Vietnamese and foreign artists on October 9 and 10.
It will continue with Vietnamese and international modern music, Vietnamese traditional concerts at the Opera House in Ha Long City on October 11.
A concert symphony at the Ha Noi Opera House will end the event on October 12.
Musicians and bands from Viet Nam will include violinist Bui Cong Duy, violinist Linh Chi, conductor Le Phi Vu, composer Vu Nhat Tan, Hoa Sen String Quartet, Song Hong Chamber Music and the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra with Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.
