Ho Chi Minh City reinforces budding Indian tourism ties
The Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City hosted a tourism promotion programme, inviting local people to experience the different flavours of Indian culture, cuisine, and nature.

The event called on the travel industries from both sides to boost bilateral people-to-people exchanges in line with the guidance offered by the leaders of the two countries. Indian Consul General K. Srikar Reddy highlighted the historical and civilisational links between the two countries, stressing that Vietnam is a strong pillar of India’s Act-East Policy.
The longstanding ties between India and Vietnam are based on strong mutual trust, understanding, and a convergence of views on various regional and international issues. Over the years, there have been regular exchanges of high-level visits between the two countries.
During his State visit to India on March 2-4, President Tran Dai Quang made a statement while addressing the India-Vietnam Business Forum in New Delhi. Quang also called for the acceleration of bilateral tourism cooperation, especially in the areas of spiritual and cultural tourism.
At the business forum, President Quang witnessed a ceremony to launch a direct air route between Vietnam and India. The first direct air route, run by Vietjet Air, will connect Ho Chi Minh City with New Delhi with four flights per week.
In the last month of 2017, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Embassy of Vietnam in India launched a programme in New Delhi to promote tourism in Vietnam.
Vietnam and India have seen important developments in tourism cooperation in recent years as well as the growing comprehensive strategic partnership and traditional friendship, according to the deputy head of VNAT, Ngo Hoai Chung.
A myriad tourism promotion activities have been carried out effectively within the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.Vietnam has become a popular destination for Indian tourists, while India is one of the most favoured places for Vietnamese people, he added.
There has been impressive growth in Indian tourist arrivals to Vietnam in recent years, going from 33,000 in 2010 to 85,000 in 2016 (up 30% on-year), according to Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
