There will be a gala of ethnic culture, ethnic cultural days, and an exhibition and a review of the ten years of implementing the Prime Minister’s decision on the Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day. Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day, which is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aims to preserve and uphold the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic communities and enhance Vietnam's great national unity.
The programmes are expected to attract the participation of 270 patriarchs, artisans and people from ethnic minority groups across the country, including Muong (Hoa Binh), Thai (Nghe An), Kho Mu (Dien Bien), E De (Dak Lak), Tay (Thai Nguyen), Ta Oi and Co Tu (Thua Thien – Hue), Khmer (Soc Trang), Mong (Ha Giang), Raglai (Ninh Thuan), Gia Rai (Gia Lai) and Thai (Son La). They will introduce visitors to their cultural practices and traditional customs.
The event’s highlight will be the gala of ethnic culture, including performances imbued with the Vietnamese national identities, honouring ethnic culture. In addition, festivals of the Khmer, Thai and Gia Rai ethnic minority groups, artistic performance of the Khmer ethnic group in southern Vietnam, and performances of Central Highlands melody songs will be held.
The exhibition will display photos and objects related to the Gia Rai ethnic people in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, memories related to the day Uncle Ho sent his letter to the Congress of Southern Ethnic Minority Groups in Pleiku on April 19, 1946, and 50 photos on the outstanding activities to celebrate Vietnam Ethnic Groups’ Cultural Day over the past ten years.
The Management Board of Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism has regularly organized daily activities of five ethnic minority groups and monthly activities according to topics; welcoming and introduced ethnic culture to tourists. This contributed to building the village’s image among domestic and foreign tourists.
In the first half of 2016, Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism has welcomed over 300,000 tourists, increasing by 50,000 in comparison with the same period of the previous year, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism report.
