Hanoi wants to learn Guangdong's economic development lessons
Over the past years, the two-way trade between Guangdong and Vietnamese localities has experienced remarkable progress.
Hanoi wants to learn from Chinese Guangdong province’s success in building up a large-scale economy, making efforts to combat traffic congestion, and reducing the number of two-wheel vehicles in downtown by 2030, among other issues, the Government Portal reported.
Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung stressed the idea when receiving Vice Governor of China's Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin on August 27 in Hanoi.
Regarding the socio-economic development, Chung elaborated that Hanoi is striving to implement the cooperation terms which had been approved by the two countries’ leaders.
Over the past years, the two-way trade between Guangdong and Vietnamese localities has experienced remarkable progress while that of Guangdong and Hanoi, as well as Hanoi and other Chinese provinces, has also grown rapidly. The number of investors from mainland China and Hong Kong to Vietnam in 2019 has risen significantly against that of 2017 and 2018.
Chung highly valued that Guangdong province’s continual organization of import-export fair in Hanoi, emphasizing the visit of the province’s leaders to the city demonstrates the good relationship between the two sides.
He also suggested Guangdong province encourage Chinese businesses to invest in Hanoi, especially in building trade centers, organizing exhibitions and helping Hanoi’s officials gain lessons from the Chinese province.
For his part, Vice Governor of Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin acknowledged that there are huge potential and great opportunities for commercial cooperation between Hanoi and Guangdong.
Thereby, he suggested the two sides to continue cooperative relations in the coming time; strengthen trade exchange through organizing more import and export fairs as well as in the fields of finance, education, and health.
He also stressed that Guangdong province will continue supporting and helping other Chinese enterprises to study the Vietnamese market and invest in Vietnam, including Hanoi, in high technology, agriculture, artificial intelligence, among other sectors.
