Hanoi urges to effectively implement and operate free-trade agreements

Hanoi People’s Committee issued Official Letter No. 5898/UBND-KT on November 21 to urge districts and towns to implement the Directive No. 38/CT-TTg on enhancing the implementation and effective operation of free trade agreements (FTA).



 
Under the Official Letter, Hanoi People’s Committee asked the Department of Industry and Trade to take prime responsibility and cooperate with departments, sectors and agencies to build and strengthen communication, popularization to improve enterprises’ awareness of international integration in general and contents of FTA signed in particular so as to help the enterprises to take opportunities brought by the international integration as well as improve their competitiveness in the international market; focus on effectively carrying out the action plan on implementing the Strategy on importing, exporting goods in the 2011 – 2020 period with an orientation to 2030; carry out programs on removing difficulties in trade and production; strengthen the economic growth and development; coordinate with the Center for investment, trade, tourism promotion to enhance domestic and oversea trade promotion activities to help the enterprises to expand the market and improve the competitiveness.


 
Moreover, the Department of Investment and Planning is tasked to focus on improving investment and trade environment, competitiveness; synchronously implementing measures to increase the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI); attract more foreign investment; build and deploy solutions to draw transnational corporations of countries participating in FTA into Hanoi.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is in charge of boosting international cooperation and integration; paying attention to people-to-people external activities, external information, contributing to increasing the position of Vietnam and Hanoi on international arena and so on.

The Department of Information and Communications will direct the city’s press agencies to strengthen communication on the content of signed FTA to all enterprises, people in the area.
