Hanoi to shake hands with US firms in e-government building
The city hopes to shake hands with US technological enterprises to develop emergency response centre, heading to turn into a smart city.
During a working session with municipal officials on March 29, US firms mentioned emergency communication-related challenges facing Hanoi, citing that locals’ access to emergency rescue services remains limited.

Representatives from Winbourne company offered to establish an integrated emergency information centre for Hanoi, which will work to receive and process emergency information via a hotline number instead of the three current ones. Meanwhile Zetron, a thirty-seven-year-experienced firm mentioned solutions for emergency information. StrongAuth, Ayaya and Esri Vietnam gave measures to help Hanoi develop the city’s rescue force, e-goverment plan as well as the Geographic information system application, respectively.
For his part, Hanoi Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung stressed the building of e-government and a smart city is an important task for Hanoi. In regard to five US firms’ suggestions, Chung briefed that on the issue, the city focuses on improving the rescue operation, fire fighter and avoidance and emergency hotline of the security force. Hence, Hanoi is in need of security technologies and devices for the systems and their applications, added Chung.
In terms of smart city building, Hanoi now completed the WAN network system as a means to improve administrative procedure, public service, interaction with citizens and higher authority, briefed the Mayor. The municipal authority is also heading to establish a database centre with eight functions, including synthesising and using a shared-network system for the whole city and one on land management, Chung said.
Therefor, the Hanoi Mayor suggested the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and the US Embassy in Vietnam to connect Hanoi and US leading technological firms, and promote their attendance in authorities’ efforts to build Hanoi into a smart city.
