Accordingly, Hanoi will set up six locations for high-altitude fireworks displays and 24 locations for the lower shows. As soon as the clock hits 00:00 midnight, marking the first day of 2020 in the Lunar Calendar, which will fall on January 25, the whole city will roar with sounds of cannons firing firework during 15 minutes.
Fireworks displays will be held in 30 venues across Hanoi’s districts including the Hoan Kiem Lake, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden, My Dinh Stadium, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, and Son Tay Ancient Citadel on the outskirts Son Tay Town.
The expense for the fireworks will be mobilized from the private sector.
The fireworks show is considered one of the most important activities to celebrate the New Lunar Year in Vietnam as the colorful lights and the uproar of the fireworks in the night sky are believed to drive away the bad luck and the evils. Launching fireworks is a way to say goodbye the old year and welcome the new year.
