In September, the city created jobs for 15,500 workers and processed 8,700 applications for unemployment benefits, which amounted to a total assistance of VND24.7 billion (US$1 million).
The city entrusted the Social Policy Bank to provide loans of VND180 billion (US$7.4 million) to the poor and social policy beneficiaries while paying unemployment insurance benefits totaling VND181.6 billion ($7.45 million) to 65,600 workers and supporting 663 vocational students with nearly VND3 billion ($123,000).
According to the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, from January to September, the Hanoi Center for Employment Service held 191 job fairs, where 5,500 organizations and enterprises recruited 13,500 people. Another 120,100 people found employment through the job exchange system, with 3,000 others being sent to work in the Japanese, Taiwanese, and South Korean markets
The department reported that organizing job fairs in districts and residential areas has boosted the labor market.
At the online job transaction session on September 28, 15,578 job vacancies were announced by 121 organizations and enterprises. Covering eight provinces and cities (Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Haiphong, Thai Binh, and Ha Nam), the event was organized by the Hanoi Center for Employment Service in cooperation with Manpower Vietnam, Takahiro, Jollibee Vietnam Limited Liability Company, and Bellsystem24 Vietnam JSC.
A total of 1,206 jobs were advertised at the Hanoi job fair. The highest number of vacancies was in the trade and services sector (48.3%), followed by manufacturing, garment, and hospitality.
Vu Quang Thanh, deputy director of the Hanoi Center for Employment Service, said that with relatively attractive remuneration and various benefits for workers in addition to salaries, employers are confident of finding the right human resources. "This job fair has provided many good opportunities for workers in the city and other provinces and cities, thus contributing to promoting the labor market and ensuring sustainable social security," he added.
