Hanoi strengthens ties with Australia’s Melbourne

Hanoi wishes to further promote friendly cooperation with Australia’s Melbourne for the purpose of the city’s socio-economic development.
A working visit by a Hanoi delegation to Australia’s Melbourne led by Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc from September 19-21 was meant to strengthen ties between the two cities.

In the framework of the visit, the delegation visited the Parliament House and attended a hearing by the Victoria state senate. At the meeting, the delegation monitored and learned experience on raising issues, debating and explaining issues of interest.

At a working session with Victoria's
Minister for Trade & Investment, Innovation & the Digital Economy, Small Business Philip Dalidakis, the minister informed about socio-economic development, exchange of experience on the work of the Parliament, the Australian government’s administration and some related issues in Victoria state. 
 
Besides, he pledged to do his best to be the bridge between Victoria state, Melbourne city and Hanoi in promoting socio-economic development, cultural exchanges.

For her part, Hanoi People's Council Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc thanked for the warm reception and valuable experience, Victoria state’s and Melbourne city’s support. Ngoc hoped that the two sides will have more exchanges for opening friendly cooperation, equality, efficiency and practicality in the future.

The Hanoi’s delegation met with RMIT University, which has branches in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The two sides exchanged plans and cooperation programs for students and managing staff between Hanoi city and RMIT University.

Also within the framework of a visit Melbourne city, the delegation visited and worked with the Vietnamese Business Association in Australia.

Ngoc provided information on socio-economic development, reforms on administrative reform, improvement of investment environment, social security, potential, opportunities and challenges in Hanoi and Vietnam.

At the same time, she wanted the Vietnamese Business Association in Australia to continue to call on businesses, economic organizations, overseas Vietnamese to invest in Hanoi and Vietnam.
