Hanoi shares experiences in administrative reform with Laos
On August 22, Permanent Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Suu of the Hanoi People’s Committee met with a Lao delegation led by Vice Minister of Home Affairs Khammoune Viphongxay.
At the meeting, Hanoi Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Suu stressed the good traditional brotherhood between Vietnam and Laos as the firm background for Hanoi and Vientiane to conduct numerous effective cooperation projects.
The Hanoi official also briefed about socio-economic development as well as the administrative structure of Hanoi authorities.
With GDP growth last year reached 7.3%, Hanoi contributes 16% to Vietnam's state budget, while foreign direct investment (FDI) into the city remains high, covering numerous areas of urban development, traffic, environment, culture, education, and healthcare.
Hanoi also heads to build the e-government and develop in smarter way and a municipal data center has been on the city's master plan. The city has actively applied technology to its administrative reform. As such, 100% of procedures of tax, customs, import-export, business registration have been done online, Suu said.
In the time ahead, Hanoi would downsize the workforce and at the same time boost the quality of human resources in the administrative sector as well as improve the infrastructure, simplify the administrative procedures to serve people, enterprises in the best way.
For his part, Vice Minister of Home Affairs Khammoune Viphongxay thanked Hanoi authority for the warm reception. The visit aims to reinforce the cooperation with Hanoi’s home affairs agencies, he noted.
Khammoune Viphongxay affirmed that Laos cares about Hanoi experiences in administrative reform, smart city building and hopes to get support from Hanoi in the fields.
Also at the meeting, the delegation and Hanoi leaders, staffs actively discussed on issues of mutual concern, including the authority management, administration procedures, urban-economic development.
Both sides agreed to keep the frequent dialogues to boost bilateral cooperation in the mentioned areas.
