Hanoi sets out the main tasks for developing civilized, modern trade and services to 2025
The People’s Committee of Hanoi has recently issued Plan No.117/KH-UBND on developing civilized, modern trade and services to 2025 in the Capital.
Under the plan, Hanoi sets targets for this period as following: added value of the trade sector will reach 13% per year on average; added value of the trade sector will make up 17% to 19% of annual GRDP of Hanoi; total retail sales and service revenues through the civilized, modern trade and service network will increase by 18% to 20% per year; retail sales through the civilized, modern trade and service network will account for 50% to 55% of total retail sales and social service revenues.
The Capital city also strives to develop network of retail and wholesale establishments to 2020 with orientation to 2030.
Accordingly, it is expected that there will be 52 shopping centers, including nine centers at regional level, 10 large-sized centers (centers at level 1), 7 medium-sized centers (centers at level 2), 16 small-sized centers (center at level 3), and 10 complexes of trade and services; 23 supermalls; 11 supermarkets at level 2; 865 supermarkets at level 3; 595 markets, of which 24 markets at level 1, 79 markets at level 2 and 478 markets at level 3; 1,000 convenience stores; 1,000 vending machines in public places.
By 2025, the City will put infrastructure of logistics into use, such as two logistics centers, two ICDs (Inland Container Depot), one international waterway container depot, five logistics centers and some specific warehouses.
To reach these targets, Hanoi has taken many comprehensive measures and tasks, such as reviewing, assessing the development after implementing the planning on retail and wholesale network in the past five years, as well as demand on economic and social development in the future; considering proper location for projects included in the trade planning, for which land fund is no more available; supplementing trade infrastructure projects to meet the demand for developing the civilized, modern trade and service.
It has allocated land fund properly to develop civilized, modern trade and service when moving offices of administrative agencies and factories from urban area; supported investors to expand scale and upgrade their projects on commercial infrastructure which are implemented effectively; created favorable conditions regarding investment procedures, policies on compensation and site clearance to help the investors when they carry out projects on building commercial infrastructure in Hanoi.
Furthermore, the city has increased effort to attract more investment and developed wholesale centers, shopping centers, regional commercial centers, malls, commercial centers, trade representative centers, logistics centers and centralized warehouses according to the approved planning on trade development and planning on wholesale, retail network of Hanoi.
