Hanoi sees over 12,000 enterprises established in six months

​Up to 12,100 new enterprises were established in Hanoi in the first six months of 2018, with total registered capital of VND124 trillion (US$ 5.46 billion), reported the Hanoi People’s Committee.
The figures represent a reduction of 3% in the number of businesses but an increase of 31% in the amount of capital from the same period last year.

Besides, nearly 1,940 firms resumed their operations, down 1.5% year-on-year, while 4,310 firms stopped operations, surging by 51% over the same period last year.
Up to 720 firms in the city went bankrupt in the first half of the year, 31.4% higher than last year’s corresponding period, the report said. As of June, the city is now home to some 251,460 enterprises.
Also reported by the Hanoi People's Committee, in the first six months of 2018, the city’s total investment reached an estimated VND128.9 trillion (US$5.67 billion), up by 9.9% year-on-year.
Non-state investment hit VND80 trillion (US$3.52 billion), up 19% year-on-year, while foreign investment stood at US$1.2 billion, up by 9.5% compared to the same period last year.
To date, the city has 4,325 valid foreign direct investment projects, with total capital of US$27.94 billion, of which US$15.4 billion has been disbursed.
In the first six months of this year, Hanoi has encouraged enterprises establishment and private economic development in the city, approved the scheme on enterprise development and encouraged household businesses to turn into companies.
