According to the latest reports to the municipal People’s Committee on September 9, the city would hold 45 activities before, during and after the 1,010th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Specifically, the highlights of the activities include the incense offering ceremony to commemorate King Ly Thai To (the founder of Hanoi) at the relic sites such as Do temple (Bac Ninh province), the ancient capital of Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh province) and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long (scheduled to be held on October 9); a ceremony to commemorate the 1,010th foundation anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi and the city’s Patriotic Emulation Congress in the 2020-2025 period which is expected to take place on October 10.
Prior to the celebration, a prolific communication campaign would be launched which includes erecting 25 panel clusters at the capital’s entrances and main street junctions; lighting up ten main streets and avenues, installing 1,500 flag racks around Hoan Kiem lake area and main streets; opening seven exhibitions displaying books, photos, calligraphy, releasing six books and screening six documentary films about the history of Thang Long - Hanoi.
Also, on this occasion, many cultural and artistic activities, sports, traditional education programs, seminars, competitions and composition competition awarding ceremonies will be held to raise pride and promote Thang Long - Hanoi.
Some 13 public works are expected to open on the occasion of the 1,010-year-old Thang Long - Hanoi. So far, their construction is progressing as planned.
As the risk of Covid-19 is imminent, Vice President of the municipal People's Committee Ngo Van Quy, has requested that events and programs will be held in safety conditions to meet the objective of guaranteeing the prevention and control of epidemics, focusing in promoting vivid visual propaganda to create a joyful atmosphere; taking the maximum advantage of technology to organize programs online.
For outdoor activities, epidemic prevention and control works must be carried out in compliance with guidance by the Ministry of Health, including wearing face masks in public, cleaning and disinfecting hands, avoiding public gathering, making medical declaration and keeping a safe distance when interacting with others. Activities failing to ensure safety would be suspended.
