On behalf of the city’s authority, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Van Suu highly valued the good traditional relations between Spain and Vietnam, as well as with Hanoi.

Mentioning the city’s socio-economic development, Suu confirmed that Hanoi has been actively learning experience from cities and localities all over the world in order to develop more effectively and sustainably.

Acknowledging that Spain’s Catalonia has a great history, similar to Hanoi, Suu noted that the two sides have numerous advantages for cooperation.

Urban transport and infrastructure development are the potential fields that Hanoi and Catalonia could  focus on, Suu added.

He affirmed that with the rapid development, the capital city is always oriented towards sustainable development and improve its residents’ life quality; for example, Hanoi has deployed the program of 1 million trees in the period 2016-2020.

For his part, Damia Calvet I Valera said one of the objectives of the delegation’s visit is to establish connection between Barcelona port and Vietnam’s major ports, through which to promote import and export activities between the two sides.

Damia Calvet I Valera affirmed that the Barcelona and Catalonia authorities are ready to expand and set up new cooperation with Hanoi in numerous fields such as urban planning and management, infrastructure policy, infrastructure, public transport, environment, sustainable development and climate change combating.

"We are ready to share Barcelona’s experience - a leading urban model of sustainable development and a worth-living city," stressed Damia Calvet I Valera.
