Hanoi promises support for world peace, prosperity

The Hanoi government meets with international delegates attending the 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council, which is underway in Hanoi and Quang Ninh province from November 22-26.

Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, is committed to contributing to the world's sustainability and bringing peace and prosperity to mankind, said Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai on November 23.

At the meeting with international deputies in the ongoing 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council, Hanoi’s vice chairman Hai congratulated the World Peace Council for its great contributions and achievements during 70 years of operation.

He appreciated that the World Peace Council has always sided with the people and Government of Vietnam in the fight for national independence and solidarity, and socio-economic development.

On behalf of the Hanoi people and authorities, the vice chairman said Hanoi is a “City for Peace” with a long history of thousand years and elegant, talented people.

“The dynamic, fast-growing city with the people and Government of Vietnam will always accompany with international communities to develop and sustain world peace for lifetime prosperity,” Hai said.

The relationships between Hanoi with local authorities of states, provinces, and cities in other countries have also improved the stature of Vietnam and Hanoi, in particular, in the world, he said.

“The Party Committee, the authorities, and the people of Hanoi will strive to improve foreign relations and call for support of international communities to propel the city's growth and benefit mankind.”

Ilda Figuereido, member of the Standing Committee of the World Peace Council cum President of the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation, thanked the warm greetings of Vietnam and the capital city Hanoi for international deputies at the 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council.

The achievements Vietnam has made in national development and governance will be valuable lessons for the people of Portugal, she said.

The meeting received other representatives of Vietnam and the World Peace Council, such as Uong Chu Luu, President of the Vietnam Peace Committee, Nguyen Phuong Nga, Chairwoman of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Socorro Gomes Coelho, President of the World Peace Council, and Athanasios Pafilis, Secretary General of the World Peace Council.

The 22nd Assembly of the World Peace Council officially opened on November 22. The event will take place until the end of November 26 in the capital city of Hanoi and the northern province of Quang Ninh, gathering 200 international deputies from 49 member nations of the council and international organizations.
