Hanoi, Northern European cities promote cooperation ties

The Hanoi’s delegation led by Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dao Duc Toan paid a working visit to Finland, Sweden and Norway from September 9 - 22.
The visit aims to promote friendly and cooperative relations between Hanoi and other cities in the northern Europe.
In Finland, the Hanoi’s delegation met with Ms.Ritva Viljanen, Deputy Mayor in charge of Education and Culture.
During the meeting, the two sides shared information on areas of their strengths and development priorities such as water treatment, environment, education, urban management, public transport development.

They agreed to promote the experience exchange in the management and public administration reform, trade and tourism cooperation and continue to strengthen cooperation in the field of clean water in the time ahead.
At the meeting with Mr. Risto Huhta-Koivisto, the representative of investment, tourism and trade promotion agency in Finland (FinPro), Deputy Secretary Toan suggested his country introduce its advanced technologies, support Hanoi city for technology as well participate  in projects of the city.
Via FinPro’s representative office in Hanoi, the agency will deploy multiple activities and measures to promote bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and tourism, he hoped.
Meanwhile, during the reception by Asko Peltola, Premier of South Ostrobothnia, Deputy Secretary Toan expressed his wish to exchange experience in supporting enterprises and creating a favourable business environment.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of high technology agriculture, processing industry, food safety, contributing to deepen the bilateral cooperation.
In Sweden, during the meeting with the Hanoi’s delegation, Deputy Chairman of Stockholm City Council Magareta Björk confirmed ready to welcome and support the missions of Hanoi city to learn and seek cooperation opportunities.
Toan expressed his desire to strengthen relations with Stockholm city, get its experiences in the process of urban development and promote the bilateral cooperation projects.
In Norway, at the meeting with authorities of Oslo city chaired by Mayor Marianne Borgen, Deputy Secretary Dao Duc Toan expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with developed urbans, including Oslo city, thereby promoting the exchange of information and cooperation in the coming period.
On the occassion, within the framework of the visit to three northern European countries, the delegation visited the Embassy of Vietnam in the three countries and met with representatives of Vietnamese community in Sweden’s Stockholm city and Norway’s Oslo city.
