Hanoi’s health sector will continue to promote the application of science and technology, administrative reform, and digital transformation towards smart healthcare.

Hanoi's health care sector has maximized the application of information technology to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, and has achieved many remarkable achievements in terms of expertise and management.

Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, made the statement on February 24 at a meeting with the Ministry of Health to mark the 70th anniversary of the Vietnamese Health Workers' Day (February 27, 1955 - 2025).

Thanh cited the report of the city's health sector as saying that it has endeavored to promote the use of information technology to improve the quality of health services. Electronic medical records, health insurance registration and examination with chip-embedded ID cards, appointment scheduling by phone and cashless fee payment have brought many conveniences to the people.

"In recent years, Hanoi has prioritized many resources to develop the capital's healthcare sector and implement synchronized solutions to improve medical services for people," said Thanh.

He added that the city's government has recognized the great progress the health sector has made in protecting and caring for people's health. The city has focused on synchronized investment in medical facilities and equipment, while creating favorable conditions for the development of non-public health facilities.

Speaking on behalf of Hanoi's leaders, Chairman Thanh praised the efforts and achievements of the local health sector over the past years, and expressed his deep gratitude to all officials and workers in the capital's health sector for their tireless contributions to protecting people's health.

The chairman urged the Hanoi Department of Health to further streamline the health sector apparatus, increase operational efficiency, build a three-tier medical examination and treatment system, and improve the quality of preventive health services and primary health care for the people.

Striving for many breakthroughs in the new era

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Dinh Hung, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health, said that over the past 70 years, the capital's health sector has steadily developed into a fully-fledged health system.

"Hanoi currently has 42 public hospitals, 43 non-public hospitals, 30 health centers with 579 commune and district health stations, and more than 15,000 private medical and pharmaceutical facilities. Every year, the capital's health system examines and treats more than 10,000 people, performs surgeries on hundreds of thousands of patients, and saves the lives of many critically ill people," Hung said.

Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee (middle in red long dress) and Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee (next to Hoai) congratulate the capital's health sector.

"In the new period, Hanoi's health sector will develop specialized science and technology, new techniques, and high-quality medical services to increase patient satisfaction. In particular, the sector will promote a digital platform to connect and share data among medical institutions, digital transformation in disease prevention, and application of artificial intelligence in the sector's activities," Hung added.
