Hanoi makes perfect preparation for North Korea – US summit: Foreign reporters
Hanoi and Vietnam are gathering worldwide attention as the North Korea – US summit is now one day away.
Hanoi has made perfect preparations for the second North Korea – US summit in a short period of time, while this event should present a valuable opportunity for the world to know more about Hanoi and Vietnam, according to Steffen Schwarzkopf, reporter of German TV channel WELT.
Schwarzkopf said he came to Hanoi 15 years ago for travel, but this time as a reporter to deliver news about the US – North Korea summit. Schwarzkopf and his colleagues over the last week had been finding out what Hanoians think about the city being the destination for the event.
Today, he would station at Melia hotel, where the North Korea leader Kim Jong Un has decided to stay during the summit. He said he was surprised that not many police personnel is patrolling on the streets unlike many other countries hosting a similar event, in spite of a few days remaining until the summit.
This shows that Hanoi is truly a safe place, he added.
Reporter Han Yeon Hee from South Korea’s YTN channel said this is the first time she has come to Hanoi. Han said that she has been attracted to the beautiful landscape and friendly people.
Han added that she hopes the summit would conclude successfully and Hanoi would become a symbol of peace.
John Jin, a reporter of VOA channel (US), said he has come to Vietnam 16 times and Vietnam is a perfect place for the North Korea – US summit. Vietnamese government has made thoroughly preparation for the event.
John said he was touched by the hospitality and warm welcome of the locals to Americans, adding that he has been going to tourist attractions and famous spots around Hanoi to film locals’ daily life.
Hanoi is a beautiful, peaceful and growing rapidly, he said.
John stated Hanoi is a peace-loving country, a safe and friendly destination, a comment which is shared by his colleagues right after setting foot on the capital.
As of present, nearly 3,000 international reporters from 200 media outlets in 40 countries and territories have come to Vietnam, not to mention more than 550 local reporters working around the clock to deliver news about the event.
