Hanoi has launched a sale promotion program with an aim to stimulate the city’s economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic has been contained across the country.

The program, with the focus on domestic products, will last for two months beginning from June and is expected to attract the participation of roughly 1,000 businesses.

Companies of different sectors including tourism, transport, finance and banking, telecommunications, retail, hospitality, among others, have joined the program with accounts of up to 70%.

The launching ceremony on June 12 evening drew the attendance of Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, Deputy Head of the People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai.

In July, mobile sales booths will be available across the city to reach customers in remote areas.

Speaking at the launching event, the city’s leaders expected this comprehensive sales promotion program would bring about significant results, greatly contributing to the city’s economy.

The municipal authorities also asked sellers to provide high-quality products.

Hanoi, one of the localities having the highest number of coronavirus infections, has been praised for its effective handling of the virus. Together with other localities, it has resumed economic activities in late April after a three-week national social distancing campaign.

To fulfil the growth rate of 7.5% in 2020, Hanoi's economy needs to expand 8.6% for the remaining three quarters. It has taken a series of bold measures to facilitate businesses namely speeding up administrative reforms, simplifying loan approval procedures, boosting agriculture industry, and cutting regular expenditures.
