PM Édouard Philippe thanked Hanoi leader for extending him warm welcome and said that Hanoi is a surprising city, an Asian metropolis with many similarities with French cities.

Recognizing that cultural preservation is extremely valuable for a city, the French guest appreciated Hanoi's efforts in preserving and honoring cultural values, saying cultural values contribute to improve standard of living in the capital, making it an attractive investment destination.

On the progress of transport projects in Hanoi executed by French enterprises, Édouard Philippe stressed that building smart cities is the strength of French enterprises, besides other fields such as water management, energy and so on.

Cooperation between Hanoi and France’s localities will illustrate the good development of bilateral relations through large projects between the two sides, the PM added.

For his part, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung thanked France for providing official development assistance (ODA) for Hanoi projects, especially those related to cultural conservation research, environment and management of urban railways.

Chung reviewed some typical cooperation between Hanoi and France’s localities, as well as French investment in many fields in the capital city.

The chairman of Hanoi People's Committee expected that the French government would continue to provide ODA to complete urban railway No.3 from Nhon to Hanoi Train Station.

Chung stressed that Hanoi has actively participated in the world climate change solution initiatives in response to the Paris Climate Accord in 2015. The Hanoi leader wished to keep cooperating with the French Development Agency (AFD) and French businesses in combating environmental pollution and climate change.

Hanoi is one of the three cities in Vietnam chosen to be developed  into a smart city, so the capital wishes to cooperate with French partners to digitize databases, build e-government, apply information technology in Hanoi’s development programs, Chung said.
