Hanoi held meeting to celebrate International Labour Day

The Hanoi Confederation of Labour has recently held a meeting to mark the 132nd anniversary of the International Labour Day (May 1); launching the Worker Month in 2018 and welcoming the success of the Municipal Trade Union’s 16th congress for the 2018-2023 tenure.

At the meeting, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Confederation of Labour Nguyen Thi Tuyen announced major contents of the 16th congress of the Trade Union and affirmed that the congress took place successfully. The Chairwoman along with participants reviewed the gloriously historical significance of May Day.
This is the eighth year the Hanoi Confederation of Labour has launched the Month for Workers. The month aims to take care of workers’ material and spiritual life; enhance the leadership of the Party Committee and responsibility of authorities at all levels in building strong working forces and public servants to meet requirements of the period of speeding up industrialization and modernization of the capital city and the country.
Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized that to make sure that the Worker Month 2018 is practical, useful, and draws the attention of Party Committees, authorities, sectors, collectives and the entire society to the working class of Vietnam, the Municipal Confederation of Labour asked Trade Unions at all levels to focus on strengthening the popularization of the congress’s results, guidelines and resolutions of the Party, policies and laws of the State relating to workers and laborers. 
Besides, Trade Unions will cooperate with authorities at the same levels to launch patriotic emulation movements among workers in combination with implementing Directive 05/CT-TW of the Politburo on continuing “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example”.
At the mean time strengthening administrative reform with a focus on increasing public servants’ awareness and responsibility in serving local people; organizing various activities towards localities and employees; care for workers’ living and working conditions.
At the meeting, five enterprises signed commitments on supporting and reducing costs of vital services for union members. The health sector also provided free health checkups and medicines to workers.
