Hanoi gives hand to celebrate 45th year of Vietnam-UK relations
The city authority fully supports the upcoming events to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Vietnam-UK diplomatic relations, said Hanoi`s vice major.
At a meeting between Vice Chairman of the Hanoi's People Committee Nguyen The Hung and Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy in Hanoi Steph Lysaght on June 21, both sides expressed their excitement with the thriving relations between the UK and Vietnam that head to mark the 45th year of establishment this year.
Regarding this milestone, bilateral high-ranking leaders and officials have discussed a wide range of events to celebrate, according to the Deputy Head of Mission. He proposed an event to mark the 45th anniversary would be held in Hanoi’s pedestrian zone around the Hoan Kiem Lake.
Hailing the idea of walking street in Hanoi, Lysaght stressed that the event taking place there with varied programs will be in line with the city’s aim in launching the zone, while contributing largely to reinforcing the two nations’ relations.
The British diplomat also expressed his hope to seek the agreement as well as partnership with Hanoi authority in holding the event.
Also at the meeting, a representative from the British Embassy presented some planned strokes of the anniversary event, including a series of “village zones” connecting Vietnamese and British partners in the fields of business, fashion, education, etc. Among those, the highlight can be the presence of London Symphony Orchestra which rocked Hanoi last year.
For his part, Hanoi Deputy Mayor Nguyen The Hung affirmed the city’s agreement and full support for the event. He also ensured more involvement of related parties in the event and hope it would contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-UK ties as well as boosting the bilateral partnership in tourism, business, and trade.
“We will direct related agencies to coordinate with British Embassy to make the event a success,” Hung said.
