Hanoi Forum 2018 to focus on climate change response
Hanoi Forum 2018 will be held in November and focus on climate change response and sustainable development.
Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) will co-host the forum that will discuss climate change response and sustainable development as Vietnam is one of the five nations worldwide worst affected by climate change. .
The two sides inked a cooperation agreement on the organization of the event in Hanoi on July 2.
This is a VNU’s initiative to discuss issues with great impact on Vietnam and other countries.
Hanoi Forum 2018 is an international academic conference, scheduled for November 8-10 with the theme “Towards sustainable development - Climate change response for sustainability and security”.
The forum will have five sub-committees, discussing the status of climate change and security, the impacts of human beings, solutions to climate change; policy and governance, science, technology and human resources training for climate change response.
The forum will also feature two events of policy dialogues on natural resource management in the Mekong Delta region and urbanization in the Red River Delta.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son said since 2001, the two sides have implemented various cooperation activities, including the dispatch of Vietnamese postgraduates to South Korea to work with local scholars.

Currently, the forum organizers have received the registration of more than 100 scientists from Vietnam, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.
