Hanoi eyes Japanese technologies in environmental protection

On September 4, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung met with Japanese Vice Minister of Environment Arata Takebe.
The Japanese Vice Minister affirmed the close and cooperative ties between Hanoi, Vietnam with Japan.
Accordingly, Arata Takebe hailed the success of the conference “Hanoi 2018- Investment and Development Cooperation”, an annual event of the city that saw the attendance of many Japanese partners. Among those, Hitachi Zosen Group and Toyo Group received the investment licenses for their waste-to-energy projects.
Mr. Arata Takebe also thanked Hanoi authorities for facilitating Japanese enterprises during the past time.

Arata Takebe wished to see deeper cooperation between Hanoi and Japanese agencies in the time ahead, contribute to Hanoi environmental protection.
For his part, Chairman Chung thanked Japan’s Ministry of Environment for supporting the city in exchanging and sharing experiences in the area, as well as encouraging Japanese business to transfer advanced technologies in waste-to-energy plants, methane treatment, etc.
The Hanoi leader praised Japanese technologies, while affirming his support to the Japanese projects and enterprises operating in Hanoi.
Chung also hoped the vice minister as well as his ministry will assist the city in other environmental issues like sewage treatment, clean water supply, air pollution, sludge treatment, etc. Hanoi authorities would create the most favorable conditions for Japanese enterprises in the field, Chung stressed.
Agreeing with the mayor of Hanoi, Vice Minister Arata Takebe said, the Ministry of Environment as well as Japan government had far more cooperation plan in environment protection. Assessing the key role of Hanoi among ASEAN cities, the Japanese official wanted Hanoi to increasingly contact with Japan side so that they can offer suitable supporting policies for the city.
