Hanoi enhances cooperation with German localities in numerous fields
Hanoi always attaches special importance to the relationship with Germany’s localities.
Hanoi is always willing to enhance cooperation with Germany's localities in numerous fields, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said at a reception for newly-accredited German Ambassador to Vietnam Guido Hildner on October 1.
Chung wished the ambassador a successful term and hoped that in his position, Guido Hildner will be a bridge to help further enhance the Vietnam - Germany relationship, promote the good relations between Hanoi and Germany’s localities as well as the business community.
The mayor affirmed that Hanoi always attaches special importance to the relationship with Germany’s localities, and admires the European country’s sci-tech achievements and inventions.
Accordingly, Hanoi has applied German technology in improving and building motorized vehicles, treating pollution in lakes, building surface water purification plant for the city, environmental monitoring system, Chung said, adding that the city is also learning Germany’s experiences in developing smart city.
Believing that the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) which is about to be approved will create the foundation for bilateral trade relations, Chung affirmed that there remain many potential opportunities for Hanoi to expand partnership with Germany’s businesses and localities.
On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany (in 2020), Hanoi’s authority is willing to work with the German embassy in Hanoi to jointly organize the German Cultural Day, Chung said.
For his part, Ambassador Guido Hildner expressed his delight at the growing relationship between Vietnam and Germany, which is constantly strengthened on the basis of good cooperation between Hanoi and Germany’s localities.
The ambassador affirmed that Germany is also willing to assist Hanoi in achieving development goals, through cooperation in infrastructure projects, waste treatment, urban transport improvement, initiatives and technology transferring.
