Hanoi directs to save power

The Hanoi People’s Committee has recently issued Directive No. 21/CT-UBND dated November 20 on increasing electricity power.
Under the Directive, the Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee requests city’s agencies and sectors to conduct popularization among officials and civil servants to encourage them to save electricity; integrate the efficient use of power with other criteria to assess annual performance, sense of discipline, emulation and commendation for staff; urge inspection and examination, focusing on sense of complying with power saving regulations.
 


 

The Chairman also requests agencies to strictly realize Decision No. 68/2011/QD-TTg dated December 12, 2011 of the Prime Minister on issuing list of power efficient vehicles and equipments for state agencies and sectors when they repair, replace or purchase new vehicles and equipments; build and issue regulations on efficient use of power, regulations on replacing, repairing electrical equipments in agencies and units according to current regulations of the law and the city.

For public lighting system, authorities apply management measures, standards and technical norms in the public lighting system, replace decorative light bulbs with energy-saving bulbs; set up and put the public lighting system operation center with automatic control technology into use; automate new public lighting system to amend the light intensity properly and increase efficiency.

Households using electricity in daily life and service trade establishments are encouraged to use energy efficient equipments, take measures to save energy, turn off equipments when leaving the rooms, utilize natural lights and natural ventilation, only use air conditioner when it is absolutely necessary, and minimize the use of energy during peak times.


 
Service and commercial facilities, restaurants and hotels strictly follow regulations on power saving, and are prepared to cut off the use of electricity upon announcement of electricity companies in localities.

Production and trade enterprises prepare solutions to use energy efficiently, increase the use of energy-saving equipments, encourage the use of new and renewable energies, launch a system to store energy at off-peak hours for use in peak hours, use power saving services provided by energy service companies, and prepare backup power resources for later use during power shortage, and prepare plan in response to power shortage.

Key energy using establishments under Decision of the Prime Minister strictly realize regulations of the Law on Efficient Use of Energies as well as documents on guiding the implementation, make their plan and take measures to save at least 1% of energy for each product unit against the last year.
