Hanoi: Creating momentum for breakthroughs

Positive results from Hanoi’s economic performances have been the spotlights at the monthly meeting of the Hanoi People’s Committee on November.
As such, all objectives for the socio-economic development of Hanoi have been attained, among them 6 have exceed the target, with Hanoi maintained the high growth rate and revenue collection for state budget. On the other hand, barriers for development are being removed along with the expansion of the investment environment, high level of citizens’ satisfaction and enterprises. 
 
Hanoi’s economy will continue its impressive growth and creating momentum for many breakthroughs in 2018.

These number have been evidence for the effort of Hanoi in maintaining growth momentum. Not only the GDP of Hanoi has increased 8.5%, state budget revenue also increased 15.7% compared to the same period of last year, but price in markets has been stable, inflation was controlled, social welfare and urban management are improving. It is worth mentioning that most economic aspects have been growing, as export value of Hanoi reached 11.54 billion USD, up 8% compared to the same period of last year. Hanoi also has made breakthroughs in building new farming models with 2 districts and 30 communes qualified. 

All of these above results are obtained thanks to the instructions and leaderships of Hanoi’s leaders, as well as the effort of all related departments, administrative agencies in districts and wards. Breakthroughs in policies have been positively transformed Hanoi as the financial hub of Vietnam. Living standard of citizens has also been improved continuously. All administrative agencies have shown disciplines with benefits of citizens and enterprises are put in foremost. 

Hanoi has put up effort in dealing with shortcomings to improve investment environment, removing barriers and difficulties for enterprises, attracting social resources to create momentum for development. For example, Hanoi has reduced processing time in administrative procedures and public services, supporting investors and enterprises from business registration process to implementing projects, timely dealing with difficulties during this process. As such, the provincial competitive index of Hanoi has increased 10 places, ranks 14 out of 63 provinces/cities. Hanoi continues to facilitate start-ups, especially innovation start-ups; establishing start-up ecosystem; launching the Hanoi Innovative Business Incubator of Information Technology – HBI – IT as foundation for Hanoi to form a center connecting enterprises for better support enterprises development. In 11 months, Hanoi has issued registration certificates for 25,160 enterprises, up 11% compared to the same period of last year, registered capital of 240 trillion VND, up 4% compared to last year, which shows Hanoi is going in the right direction. 

From now on until 2020, Hanoi will push forward with calling for FDI investment, improving investment environment, with a view to create advantage attracting FDI and indirect investment from abroad. At the same time, the city will improve efficiency in transport infrastructure, training high quality human resources, research and develop modern services.   

These comprehensive achievements have created a positive sentiment toward Hanoi as the end of 2017 is near approaching. Many expected that with specific and clear measures from Hanoi’s leaders in the remaining month of 2017, Hanoi’s economy will continue its impressive growth and creating momentum for many breakthroughs in 2018.
