Hanoi city strengthens cooperation with Yunnan Province (China)

On Nov 23, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Member of the Standing Board of the city Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council welcomed delegation from Yunnan Province (China).
The delegation from Yunnan Province (China) is led by Wang Shufen, deputy head of the Yunnan provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee.

Tuan warmly welcomed the delegation's visit and said that the Party and State of Vietnam in general and Ha Noi authority in particular always aims to maintain and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership Vietnam – China to develop in a stable and sustainable manner. The sound good relationship is firmly established by President Ho Chi Minh, President Mao Zedong as well as leaders of the Parties. Accordingly, the two countries have become close partners in the multi-field cooperation from culture to economy and trade in which Hanoi has implemented many cooperation programs with provinces and cities in China.

On this occation, he has outlined the  Hanoi's socio-economic situation and development in culture and economy. Based on the similarities between the province and city; Hanoi expects to further strengthen cooperation with Yunnan province on education, health, urban and rural areas as well as exchanging experiences on governance.
Thanks to the warm welcome from Vietnam, Wang Shufen agreed with the above suggestions  and shared that, during the visit, the delegation attended the conference on economic corridor cooperation including five provinces (Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Yunnan province). The event has achieved great achievements, enabling cooperation in many fields.
She said that Yunnan province respects and strongly expects cooperation with provinces and cities of Vietnam, especially Hanoi. Accordingly, this visit is an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between Yunnan provincial People’s Congress Committee and the Hanoi People's Council.
Both sides agreed to continue actively exchanging information as well as delegations and officials in order to enhance the learning and sharing experience in supervision, legislation and administration of the government, providing a solid foundation for further cooperation in other areas.
In advance, the eighth conference on economic corridor cooperation between Vietnam’s Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, and China’s Yunnan officially opened in the northern port city of Hai Phong on November 22.
The conference is among the initiatives aimed at creating a premise for friendly exchange and cooperation activities between the five relevant localities in particular, and between the two countries as a whole, especially in the field of economy.
Under the theme of “Promoting cooperation for mutual development”, the three-day conference will focus on discussing the issues of transportation connectivity and logistic developmental cooperation; trade and investment cooperation; tourism, educational and health cooperation; and monetary and insurance cooperation.
Also, the conference will witness the signing of cooperation documents between businesses and associations of Vietnam and China, concerning the fields of money-finance, e-commerce and tourism, with the air route connecting Hai Phong and Kunming, and the Hai Phong-Hanoi-Lao Cai-Kunming high-speed train route being among the biggest anticipations.
During the meeting, delegates will evaluate the implementation of the results achieved, difficulties and obstacles in carrying out the contents of the memorandum of understanding signed at the seventh conference.On that basis, the conference will agree on the effective and practical cooperation contents, whilst working out concrete directions and appropriate solutions to further promote cooperation among the provinces and cities, towards constructing the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic corridor to develop into a model of effective cooperation between Vietnam and China.
