Hanoi boosts international cooperation in livestock sector
Hanoi`s Livestock Development Centre has carried out the Vietnam Belgium Dairy Project since 2015 in order to promote the application of advanced techniques in dairy farming in the suburbs of the city.
The center has also coordinated with the Japanese International Cooperation Organization (JICA) in training for technicians working on artificial insemination of cows as wel as conducted in specialized acitivies in the area of managing breeds, training local veterinary team about dairy.
The outstanding outcomes are to implement technical processes for raising dairy; boosting livestock as the main production sector, which eventually lifts farmers’ incomes. Aslo, with all efforts, the local agriclutural sector has had the ability to produce high quality goods, increasing the competitiveness in the market and contributing to social progress.
Currently, in terms of the dairy sector, the percentage of HFF3 accounts for nearly 70%, HFF2, HFF1 below 12%, purebred cow over 8%. The total milk production increased to 4,800 kg/ head/cycle. Especially, some dairy with special breeding yield at 5,900 kg/head/cycle.
Since 2016 - 2017, the Livestock Development Centre has been continuously implementing a project, which enhances the value chain of pork in Vietnam according to international orientation under an umbrella of the project: “Enhance the value chain of pork in Vietnam according to international orientation between the Misnistry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Netherlands”. Ta Van Tuong, Director of the Centre said they have sent their staffs to study in the Netherlands as well as collaborated with international organizations such as Gene +, JICA, De Heus, Fresh Studio ... in order to transfer high quality bleeds, trained technicians, chain linking orgnizations locally. These activities will open up new promising achievements for the livestock sector in Hanoi, meeting the requirements of international economic integration.
