No pets and noise will be allowed in pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity, the central part of Hanoi, as part of the city's efforts to promote the value of its famous tourist attraction.
According to the regulations which take effect from this weekend, people coming to Hoan Kiem Lake walking space will not be allowed to bring pets, use loudspeakers, play trumpets, drums, or any music instrument that causes noise pollution.

Besides, street vending, shoe polishing, or tourist stalking will be banned. Organizations and individuals in the pedestrian space of Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity are urged to behave in a civilized manner, obey the code of conduct in public places and protocols of Covid-19 prevention.
Those going to the walking space are banned from swimming, catching fishes and other creatures in Hoan Kiem Lake, stepping on and lying on the grass or chairs, picking flowers, climbing trees, cutting trees, among others.
Organizations and individuals, when playing music instruments and audio equipment in the pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity must seek permission from relevant authorities.
Business people are asked to comply with regulations on commercial civilization, such as communicating with customers politely and listing prices.
In addition, they must declare and register their business and are only allowed to trade goods and services approved by Hanoi’s authorities. They are banned from displaying goods and items on sidewalks and roadbeds without authorization and must ensure food safety.
Car park keepers must be licensed and must not charge excessive parking fees.
The walking street around Hoan Kiem lake first began in 2016 with the initial purpose of boosting Vietnamese culture and providing a common place for both locals and visitors to gather and hang out.
The walking space and surrounding areas have become a brand, a cultural avenue, and a highlight of Hanoi city, contributing to creating a new lifestyle for Hanoi’s people, and promoting the capital city’s image - the City for Peace.
