Hanoi and Finnish region to promote cooperation in smart city building
For the past ten years, South Ostrobothnia has actively supported Hanoi through high-level cooperation on tourism, education-training and vocational training.
Hanoi and Finland’s South Ostrobothnia region have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on promoting cooperation between the two sides, especially smart city building.The MoU was signed at the meeting between Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and a visiting delegation from the Finnish region led by Chairman of its Regional Council Kai Pontinen in Hanoi on January 7.

Chung emphasized that the Hanoi’s authority and people are always grateful to the Finnish government for giving valuable support to Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular during the struggle for national independence and development.
For the past ten years, South Ostrobothnia has actively supported Hanoi through high-level cooperation in tourism, education-training and vocational training.
Accordingly, the chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee expressed his desire to bring the relationship between the two sides to a new height.
Chung stressed that the program of planting one million trees in the 2016-2020 period has been completed with great support from the Ambassador of Finland in Vietnam, who donated 100 trees planted in Cau Giay district.
He proposed that the two sides would strengthen cooperation in e-government and smart city building in 2025, with the vision to 2030, as well as shaking hands in the field of education and training, tourism, handling environmental pollution, especially waste treatment and air pollution.
For his part, Chairman of the South Ostrobothnia Council Kai Pontinen emphasized the traditional relationship and friendship between the two sides, affirming that the MoU will fortify the friendship between the two localities as well as the two nations.
Pontinen agreed with Chung’s proposals and recommended the sides to promote partnership in labor training, education-training, culture, tourism, among others.
