Hanoi and Finland region promote multifaceted cooperation

On January 10, Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang received Chairman of Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia (Finland) Kai Pontinen.
At talks, besides traditional areas of cooperation such as education, training, artistic and cultural exchanges, Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang hoped that Hanoi and the South Ostrobothnia region will promote cooperation in the social security sectors, investment promotion, trade, smart city, e-government, green technology and tourism.

Welcoming Chairman of the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia (Finland) Kai Pontinen, who is visiting and working in Hanoi, Standing Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang said that 2018 left an important milestone in diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Finland, when bilateral trade and investment relations have obtained many outstanding achievements, marking the 45th anniversary Vietnam - Finland diplomatic relation establishment (1973 - 2018) and 10 years of the friendly relations between Hanoi and the South Ostrobothnia region.
During the ten years since Hanoi and the South Ostrobothnia region signed a cooperation agreement, the two sides have implemented many effective joint activities, especially in culture, society, education and training, Hang said, adding that this meeting with Kai Pontinen has created many prospects for the two sides to boost joint efforts in many potential areas.
In particular, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on promoting bilateral cooperation between the two localities on January 7 is a new milestone for close, extensive and effective cooperation and will pave the way for a more fruitful connection between Hanoi and South Ostrobothnia region. At the same time, it has become a focal point for local-level collaboration between Vietnam and Finland.
For his part, Chairman of the Regional Council of South Ostrobothnia (Finland) Kai Pontinen valued the relationship between the two sides, and affirmed that through this MoU, the linkage between Hanoi and the South Ostrobothnia region will become more specific and profound.
Ngo Thi Thanh Hang and Kai Pontinen agreed that promoting cooperation in the tourism sector will help to benefit both sides.
