Hanoi actively applies Japanese technology in waste treatment

The Japanese Ministry of Environment will continue to work with Hanoi to achieve the goal of handling and protecting the sustainable environment for the capital.
Japanese technology in waste treatment is actively applied in Hanoi in some projects, said Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung while hosting Japanese Vice Minister of the Environment Takaaki Katsumata in Hanoi on January 10.

Chung thanked the Japanese side for the cooperation fields that the Japanese vice minister hinted at, as well as the recent collaboration between the Japanese Ministry of Environment and Hanoi city.

So far, the issue of garbage, waste water, and environmental pollution treatment has been the major challenge for Hanoi, the chairman of the City People's Committee said. 

He appreciated the effectiveness of Suginami factory located in Tokyo using the latest technology of Hitachi Zosen Group and briefed the guest that Vietnam’s T&T Group and Hitachi Zosen Group have invested in Xuan Son waste treatment plant to generate power through garbage incinerating. The project has been granted investment and construction license and will be executed soonin the time ahead.

On that basis, he expressed his wish that the Japanese Ministry of Environment will continue to work with Hanoi to achieve the goal of handling and protecting the sustainable environment for the capital.

For his part, Takaaki Katsumata hailed on the strong relationship between the Japanese Ministry of Environment and Hanoi city and expressed his gratitude for Hanoi’s support for cooperation activities between the two sides.

On the Vietnam-Japan Environmental Week held in Hanoi, Deputy Minister Takaaki Katsumata said the event introduced and promoted Japan’s waste treatment technology and solutions for environment pollution in Vietnam, as well as reviewed cooperation activities between Hanoi and his ministry.

The vice minister also expressed his wish that in the coming time, Hanoi city will continue to support the Japanese Ministry of Environment to implement cooperation plans in the relevant fields.
