Hanoi absorbs Japanese experience to develop sustainable agriculture
Hanoi heads to build a high-tech agriculture sector with experience learned from Fukuoka prefecture- its closely partner, city official said during a conference on agriculture promotion in Hanoi on June 28.
The conference is among activities to celebrate 45th year of Vietnam-Japan relations and 10th year of friendship between Hanoi city and Fukuoka prefecture.
Adressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu said that the city always treasures and actively boosts the cooperation with Japanese localities, including Fukuoka. The city and prefecture have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in environment, education-training, culture and investment since they established cooperative and friendship relations in 2008, stressed Suu.
The forum today poses chances for two sides to discuss on measures to boost investment and technology transfer in agriculture, a key area of Fukuoka, added the Hanoi official.
Ogawa, for his part, noted that Fukuoka prefecture has strengths in manufacturing as well as robot, automobile, steel production and especially agriculture.
“Fukuoka is supposed to be an organic agriculture hub of Japan”, said the Japanese guest. With considerable experience in the application of high technology in agriculture, Fukuoka hopes that it can contribute to agricultural development in Hanoi in particular and in Vietnam in general, he said.
The event today, according to the Japanese official, contributes to realizing cooperation contents in a newly-signed memorandum of understanding between the two localities. It’s a chance for Japanese experts to share experience for Hanoi in its path of building a high-tech and sustainable agriculture sector.
Within the events, experts, officials and enterprises from both sides actively exchanged on Hanoi's agriculture development as well as proposed further cooperation between Hanoi and Fukuoka, and shared the most advanced technoglogy of Japan in agriculture and forestry.
With total committed amount of over US$2 billion, Japan is currently the biggest provider of official development assistance (ODA) for Hanoi. Japan is also the biggest foreign investor in the capital city with registered capital of more than US$5 billion and Fukuoka is the third largest trading partner of Hanoi.
